Delightful Denby Dale

Denby Dale is a bustling country village surrounded by beautiful countryside, great access local attractions and within commuting distance from major towns and cities.

Its not surprising that its a popular location when it has so much to offer including excellent schools, doctors, eateries and more. Here’s some of our favourite things about Denby Dale!

 Fun for the Family

There are plenty of family activities and days out in and around Denby Dale. The Scarecrow Trail run by Denby Dale District Lions really highlights the villages community feel Look out for details of events run by the Denby Dale District Lions on their Facebook page.

Just outside Denby Dale is Pigs in the Woods. This sanctuary for pigs is open for visitors Thursday to Sunday sat 10.30am where you can get involved with feeding the pigs and have a tour of the woods. They also run events throughout the year for occasions such as Easter and Halloween.

Slightly further afield, Kirklees Light Railway is a family favourite. Steeped in local history, you can enjoy trips on their miniature locomotives to Shelley. They also run events such as A Day out with Thomas, check out their page for more information!

The Busy High Street

Denby Dale has a great high street with wonderful local businesses that offer everything from business services to gifts, crafts and food!

One of our favourite independent businesses is Thinking of You. This little gem has a huge range of beautiful greeting cards and gifts for every occasion

If you’re looking to support Yorkshire businesses, Utterly Yorkshire is the place to go! Offering quality food and drink from across Yorkshire, you can get a great gift for the foodie in your life. GG’s Artisan Bakery and Health Store sells a range of foods and home products, including vegan and gluten free. They serve a full breakfast on a Saturday, including vegetarian options, so get down there for a weekend treat!

There are too many wonderful shops to name them all – you’ll also find a bakery, butchers and wonderful flower shops. Have a wander down the high street you’ll not come away empty handed!

Countryside Walks

Denby Dale is surrounded by gorgeous countryside and lovely walks. Whichever direction you leave Denby Dale, you are greeted by open fields, public walks and the wonderful views of West Yorkshire countryside!

Just a short drive is Deffer Woods, this beautifully managed woods link Clayton West and Cannon Hall with lots of opportunity to explore, climb trees and pick blackberrie. You may even spot a family of pheasants or a rabbit or two.
